Susan Wasserman, M.D

 

Dr. Susan Wasserman  graduated in 1983 from Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She did her residency in internal medicine and fellowship in Endocrinology at Montefiore Medical Center. She is board certified in internal medicine and Endocrinology and Metabolism. She started her practice as a sole practitioner in Endocrinology in 1991 and has now grown to a 5 physician single specialty practice of Endocrinology and Metabolism along with 2 Certified diabetes educators and an approved American Diabetes Association Diabetes Self Management Education Program. The practice has grown to incorporate all aspects of endocrinology. She is ECNU certified for neck ultrasounds and fine needle aspirations through American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (AACE).  She is on the board of the lower New York region for the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologist, as well as being on the legislative committee for national AACE.  She is on the board of the Beacon Health Partners, an organization for the collaboration of independent primary care providers and specialists across Long Island and Queens which has been approved by Medicare to be an accountable care organization (ACO).  Dr. Wasserman founded EANQ in 1991.


We specialize in the diagnosis and management of hormonal conditions.  We provide comprehensive care for patients with diabetes mellitus, thyroid cancer and dysfunction, adrenal and pituitary disease, osteoporosis and calcium disorders, male and female hypogonadism, and metabolic disorders including polycystic ovarian syndrome, obesity, dyslipidemia, and prediabetes.  We treat Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes as well as diabetes in pregnancy.

Our multidisciplinary diabetes team includes a diabetes nurse educator and nutritionist. We provide state of the art diabetes care including insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor training and management, as well as diagnostic continuous glucose monitoring sensors.

Other diagnostic services offered include thyroid ultrasound and biopsy, bone densitometry, vascular testing.  We consult on in patients at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset as well as Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park.
Seth Friedman, M.D

 

Dr. Friedman received a BA Cum Laude from Yeshiva University in 1984. He graduated the  Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1988 and was chosen to be inducted into the Alpha Omega  Alpha Honor Medical Society. He performed his residency in Internal Medicine at the  Long Island Jewish Medical Center and his fellowship in Endocrinology Diabetes and Metabolism  at  the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.  Dr. Friedman joined EANQ in 1993.

Yigal Aharon, M.D 

 

Dr. Aharon received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He trained in Internal Medicine at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. He returned to Albert Einstein College of Medicine for fellowship training in Endocrinology and Metabolism where he was involved in clinical research investigating glucose metabolism. Dr. Aharon joined EANQ in 1997.

Dana Rochester, M.D

 

Dr. Dana Rochester graduated from Duke University magna cum laude and attended the Mount Sinai School of Medicine where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. She remained at the Mount Sinai Medical Center for internship and residency in Internal Medicine.  Dr Rochester then completed her Endocrinology and Metabolism fellowship at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx.  She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology and Metabolism.  Dr Rochester is originally from Queens, NY and is proficient in Spanish.  Dr. Rochester joined EANQ in 2007.

Ilene Frischer RD, CDE Nutritionist 

 

Ilene graduated from LIU, C.W. Post with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition.  She went on to complete her dietetic internship through The School of Health Professions, C.W. Post campus.  Since then she has worked with adults in a rehab/nursing home setting.  She is a Certified Insulin Pump Trainer working with both children and adults.  Ilene has been working with Endocrinology Associates of Nassau and Queens since 2009 as a Registered Dietitian/Certified Diabetes Educator as well as a Senior Health Coach for their Take Shape For Life Optimal Health Program.

Adina Schneider, M.D

 

Dr. Schneider is a graduate of Northwestern University’s Honor’s Program in Medical Education. She trained in Internal Medicine at Boston’s Beth Israel Medical Center. Upon completing her residency, she moved to New York and was on faculty at Columbia Presbyterian where she was actively involved in teaching and Clinical Medicine. In 2000, she pursued further training in Endocrinology and Metabolism at Mt Sinai Hospital. She completed her fellowship in 2002 and remained on faculty at Mt. Sinai where she where she practiced General Endocrinology and was involved in clinical research.  Dr. Schneider joined EANQ in 2005.

Susan Karol, RN, CDE

 

Susan Karol graduated from SUNY @ Downstate in 1981 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.  She is a registered nurse and has been a certified diabetes nurse educator since 1987.  She has been involved in patient education for both pediatrics and adults, as well as nursing staff education and development at the following institutions;  Jack D. Weiler Hospital(Einstein Campus), New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, and New York Hospital Queens Medical Center.  She has worked at  Endocrine Associates of Nassau and Queens as a patient educator and diabetes education coordinator since 1994.  Under her direction, we have received American Diabetes Association Recognition for our diabetes self-management education program.
